Under the close supervision of our experienced PADI instructors, you’ll develop greater control, awareness, and adaptability in different diving environments.
The format is straightforward: five adventure dives across five sessions of about two and a half hours each, spread over three days. You learn by diving — each dive introduces a new set of skills in the water, not in a classroom. The course costs $449 with all equipment included, and PADI eLearning lets you cover the knowledge portions before you even arrive in Punta Cana.

Who Can Join the Advanced Open Water Course
The course is open to any certified Open Water Diver, regardless of experience level. Whether you are newly certified or have been diving for years, this program will help you expand your abilities, improve your buoyancy, and increase your comfort when exploring new underwater landscapes. It’s the ideal step forward for divers ready to unlock new depths and adventures.
The only prerequisites are a PADI Open Water Diver certification — or an equivalent from another training organization — and a minimum age of 12. And if it has been a while since your last dive, don’t worry: the course itself is a structured, supervised way to get back in the water and rebuild your confidence dive by dive.

What You Will Learn
The Advanced Open Water Diver course blends essential skills with adventure-based training. Two core dives form the foundation of your certification. The Deep Dive, reaching depths of up to 30 meters or 100 feet, will teach you how to plan and manage dives at greater depths while understanding the physiological effects and safety considerations. The Underwater Navigation dive will enhance your compass use, improve your ability to navigate by natural landmarks, and help you maintain precision through kick cycles and time tracking.
You’ll practice all of it in ideal training conditions. The water here stays at 26–29°C (78–84°F) year-round and visibility typically runs 15 to 25 meters — clear enough to see the results of your navigation work instead of guessing at them.
Personalized Adventure Dives
Beyond the two required dives, you will select three additional adventure dives that match your interests and diving goals. Many of our students enjoy exploring shipwrecks like the famous Wreck Monica, improving buoyancy control to glide effortlessly through the water, or learning to identify the fascinating marine species of the Caribbean. Others choose boat diving to master water entries and exits, practice underwater photography or videography to capture their experiences, or train with enriched air nitrox to extend their time at depth.
Whatever combination you choose, your instructor briefs and debriefs every dive in English, Spanish, or French, and tailors each session to what you want to get out of your diving.

Your new 30-meter (100-foot) certification unlocks sites like Shark Point, where nurse and reef sharks patrol between 24 and 30 meters, and the deeper sections of The Wall at Catalina Island. It’s also the prerequisite for the St. George, the 40-meter wreck on our Bayahibe trips and one of the Dominican Republic’s signature dives.
